Around 100 black cabs heading to Disneyland Paris as part of this year’s Magical Taxi Tour will all be LEVC TX models, the first time in the event’s history that the entire convoy has been made up of the same vehicle.
Now in its 31st year, the annual charity event brings together taxi drivers, volunteers and authorities from the UK and France to give children with life-threatening conditions and their families a memorable trip to Disneyland Paris.
LEVC is supplying vehicles from its own fleet, alongside a donation to the charity and practical support for participating drivers. The company will also provide spending money for the families taking part.
The all-TX convoy means every taxi taking part will be capable of zero-exhaust-emission driving. The TX combines electric driving with range-extender technology, giving drivers flexibility over the long journey to France.
The TX can carry up to six passengers and is equipped with an integrated ramp capable of accommodating a forward-facing wheelchair.
Accessibility features also include a hearing induction loop, braille switches, a step, swivel chair and high-visibility handles.
Introduced in 2018, the TX now accounts for around 70% of London’s licensed taxi fleet, according to LEVC. The manufacturer also says TX vehicles have collectively saved more than 450 million kilograms of CO₂ globally since going on sale.
